Moody Portrait Session in Olympic National Park

“I just want to live out my PNW mermaid dreams.”

- Ariana in her original message to me.

Ariana and Tyler were traveling from Colorado to spend a week exploring Olympic National Park in Washington, and wanted to capture some of their adventure — so they reached out to me. When I heard their vision, I was so excited to meet them and explore with them!

After sending them my personalized location recommendations based on their overall vision of wanting a moody, coastal scene where they could let the inner-mermaid swim free, we found the perfect spot! (as you can see below)

We began in the forested area, and headed to the trail which leads to some rocks via a very old wooden staircase to take in the vista that surrounded us. I am in love with, as I call them, “big rock islands”, with forests of their own. I think they’re so enchanting and can add so much to a beach area. They also scream Pacific Northwest, which is the vibe I find myself constantly chasing now after deciding to stay in Washington since 2020, when I was originally just visiting… lol. What can I say? Washington State is magical.

After we stared at the coolest “rock island” ever, we headed down to the beach where we could walk some of the shoreline!

And can I just say… UGH! These are some of my favorite shots I’ve had the honor of capturing. These two love birds were SO fun to photograph. Just running around, hand-in-hand, laughing, hugging, kissing, all the things. I was like a fly on wall to their visit to the beach, and I was loving every moment. I believe the best photographs come from ignoring the camera and enjoying the experience with your lover. Simply being.
